Atec Casey Pitching Machine

Atec Casey Pitching Machine

For months now I have been writing about the Atec Casey pitching machines and many others. This week I want to take a second to talk about the actual pitchers. This blog is for the parents of little leaguers.

Did you know that reconstructive elbow surgeries are way up for pitchers in the major leagues? Well if you did not realize that than it probably would really surprise you to know that the fastest increase to elbow surgeries are in the young kids. These injuries are due to the throwing motion. So, what can you do to prevent this from happening to your kid? There is a gentleman that was a Major league pitcher for 13 years and then got a PHD in physiology who has change the way a pitcher throws the ball and the result is no more elbow injuries. One of his students also played in the majors. The problem is it takes years to master just like the conventional throw motion, but know is teaching the new method because few know about it and even fewer can teach it. If you have a youngster playing please take time to look into this it is worth it. You can find info on hbo.com under real sports with Bryant Gumble.

Baseball Pitching Machine

Baseball Pitching Machine

A baseball pitching machine can be a very handy thing to have if you are a baseball coach of a parent looking to sharpen your child's hitting skills. The usual problem with owning a pitching machine is the bulkiness and the overall size of the units.

Finally the manufacturers figured out that the parents, wanting to better their child's skill, are a market. This has been a benefit to the little league coaches as well. The manufacturers are not looking to make these units more compact, easy to use, and more affordable. Take for insistence the picture above this unit (for the parent) is great. This provides what you need right at your home and you do not need a designated area to use it.

Iron Mike Pitching Machines Touch Up Paint.

Iron Mike Pitching Machines Touch Up Paint

After some years of using your pitching machine, it may need a touch up to cover up any blemishes it may have gotten form general use. Iron Mike pitching machines touch up paint can be purchased directly from the manufacturer.

There may in fact be some other people out there hidden in cyberspace that offer touch up paints for a variety of pitching machines, but unless it is manufacturer made I would not purchase it. Pitching machines are an investment, and as with all machinery, it is an investment and should be properly maintained. I firmly believe that you should properly maintain your purchase. Just as with a car, there will be a cost to generally maintain your machine, and why spend the money on a new machine only to paint it a mismatched color?

Homemade Pitching Machines, Is You're Time Worth It?

Homemade Pitching Machines

Unless you are a mechanic and have a junk yard in your back yard, you may want to forgo building your own homemade pitching machine. I have visited many, many websites that have discussed building your own pitching machine and to be quite honest, just go buy a used one.

There are quite a few postings out there of people who have been kind enough to share their knowledge on building a homemade pitching machine, but if you look at the postings closely you will see how much time some people spend trying to find what they need as well as the time spent building it and troubleshooting it. One gentleman online who has been very nice to share all of his information and frustrations has been at it for about 4 months now. How much is your time worth?

I personally make on average about $22 dollars an hour. This poor man has now spent about 100 hours researching parts, finding the best price and has basically cost himself $2200. You can purchase new pitching machines for under $1000, and used pitching machines are even less expensive. Even fast food places pay $10 an hour, so that is still $1000 of your time that could have been spent playing with your kids instead of researching how to make a machine that 4 months later is not finished.
