Iron Mike Pitching Machines Are State Of The Art!!!

iron mike pitching machines
Why consider an arm style pitching machine?

It's been said that hitting is timing, so it sure is an advantage to be able to see the pitcher wind up. This is a good reason to choose the Iron Mike Arm Style Pitching Machine by Master Pitch. These machines are the same models you've seen in high schools and college baseball programs and at spring training facilities.

In my opinion, too many people do not consider purchasing an arm-style pitching machine. Yet I can't imagine any pro club without living without one. Maybe it's because you just see so many of the wheel-type machines or maybe it is because of the intimidating, industrial look of an arm-style machine.

They really are not very complicated to set up, to use, to adjust and especially, to maintain. There's not much to replace and what parts you might need are readily available and inexpensive. They are meant to live outside, do not require extra auto feeders and throw consistent strikes without adjustment. They even include remote controls with most models and packages for a single player use.

If your need is for a pitching machine that will last for years and doesn't need to be moved or transported often, then these machines are a great choice. And when the time comes to consider selling it, there always seems to be a local buyer.

The Anaheim Angel's groundskeepers are holding their seventh annual Thanksgiving Holiday Canned Food Drive all this week at Angel Stadium. Participants can enter through Gate 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time.

Fans will have the opportunity to step up to the plate and swing for the fences. Donations of two cans of food will be good for one swing against a pitching machine with a maximum of 20 pitches per participant. Fans may also donate $2 per pitch as well.

Speed pitch machines will also be set up in the bullpens giving fans the opportunity to test their pitching skills for a donation of one canned food item or $1 per pitch. All proceeds will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County in the fight against hunger during the holiday season. Donations may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank. This is done year after year in order to benefit the less fortunate. It truly is a great event that the Angels grounds keeping staff does. It gives fans an opportunity to test their skills on a pitching machine and act like a major league player.

Baltimore Baseball Player Utilizing Baseball Pitching Machines In New Off-Season Facility!!!

baseball pitching machinesSteve Markey's new business venture began because of his son, Bradley. Markey says that Bradley plays baseball at a high level, and throughout his life, the 15-year old has been on everything from travel teams to Baltimore metro teams. But the problem always came in the off-season.

As Markey recalls, it was often difficult for teams to find safe, appropriate places for the kids to practice. Over the years, they rented warehouse space, private gymnasiums, and have even had the kids work out in the parking lost. And, not surprisingly, these less-than-stellar locations weren't always the best.

"You don't want to damage the property where you're working, so you can't use a regular baseball. Usually, you've got to use a softer ball," explains Markey. "There are no nets to protect you. Balls ricochet off walls, bleachers, desk, chairs, whatever happens to be there. The floor is obviously hard, so it's difficult to work out."

So three years ago, Markey began to research other options. In late September, his plans came to fruition when he and his wife, Tammy, opened a Baltimore franchise of Extra Innings, a facility that is specially designed to serve the needs of all levels of baseball and softball players.

Extra Innings seems to be a dream for the off-season baseball or softball player. The facility is 18,000 square feet and includes 71 by 15 foot tunnels with 26-foot ceilings that open into a large field and are designed for people to practice hitting. Mareky says that they have various types of equipment for practicing pitching, including pitchers mounds, automatic pitching machines, and even Ts to work from.

Pitching Machine 247 - UMASS Testing

From Pitching Machine 247, James Sherwood, a professor of mechanical engineering at the U. Mass at Lowell, doesn't worry that his lab assistants are goofing off when they're swinging bats.

His lab is the site designated by Major League Baseball as the official "testing grounds" for its baseballs, as well as for all bats used by high schools and NCAA league games.

"In April of 2000, players seemed to be hitting far more home runs than they used to," Sherwood recalled. "Fans became suspicious that the balls were juiced."

"A few years ago, when fans raised a lot of concerns, testing became very important to us and we grew to rely on their credibility in this area," said Pat Courtney, a spokesman for Major League Baseball. "The engineers at the Baseball Research Center in Lowell have worked on a number of different baseball-related issues and tasks for us, and we have relied on their expertise."

"We take a sampling of 12 baseballs and peel them layer by layer, like an onion," Sherwood said. They look at how each layer is constructed and compare it to manufacturing specifications.
"We report our findings to MLB as part of a compliance study," Sherwood said.

"Once the game is under way, I'm just a regular fan," he said. "Actually I grew up just an hour outside of Cleveland, rooting for the Indians, before moving to this area and becoming a Red Sox fan. So no matter what happens in this series, I'll be happy."
